Book Club Week 4:  Maisy’s Morning on the Farm

By Hallie Bulkin

Welcome to the third week of the Little Sprout Book Club! I am SO excited that Book Club is switching gears as we head into Fall! There are so many things we could focus on in the Fall and one of my favorite topics for preschoolers is the FARM! This month we are focused on the Farm and Halloween In order to receive the Book Club posts before anyone else, be sure to sign up here:: Book Club Sign Up.

Theme of the Month

Farm

Book of the Week

Maisy’s Morning on the Farm
by Lucy Cousins

Hint: Continue to focus on farm vocabulary this week
(chicken, pig, sheep, cow, horse, cat, dog, tractor, milk, corn)
**You should keep working on animal sounds with this story**
Example: A cow says MOOOO, A sheep says BAAA, etc.

Color of the Week

Yellow

Talk about the Yellow corn on the cob,
To feed the animals and to take home and pop for ourselves!
Name things that are yellow outside of your home
(hint: leaves are changing).

Song/Nursery Rhyme of the Week

The Tractor On The Farm
Sung to “The Wheels On The Bus”

Oh, the tractor on the farm goes ’round and ’round,
’round and ’round, ’round and ’round.
Oh, the tractors on the farm goes ’round and ’round,
All around the farm.

Oh, the cown on the farm goes, moo, moo, moo
Moo, moo, moo…moo, moo, moo.
Oh, the cow on the farm goes, moo, moo, moo,
All around the farm.

Continue with all animals and their sounds on the farm.
You can do replace the words with other farm objects, too!

Letter of the Week

P for POP

“Every letter makes a sound, P says Puh!”

Snack of the Week

Popcorn

*How creative can you be with your popcorn?
Instead of getting store bought, go to your local farm and pluck some ears of popping corn! Bring it home and pull the kernels off, placing them either in a pan to pop on top of the stove or in a brown lunch bag to close and pop in the microwave for 2-3 minutes.
