Book of the Week

The Ants Go Marching

By Jeffrey Scherer

Color of the Week

Purple

Have fun looking for the color purple this week.

Hint: There are purple letters on the front of the book!

Song/Nursery Rhyme of the Week

The Ants Go Marching!

The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching one by one,
The little one stops to suck her thumb
And they all go marching down to the ground
To get out of the rain, BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah
The ants go marching two by two,
The little one stops to tie his shoe
And they all go marching down to the ground
To get out of the rain, BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

For the rest of the versus, change to the correct number and use the following rhymes:

The ants go marching three by three,
The little one stops to climb a tree

The ants go marching four by four,
The little one stops to shut the door

The ants go marching five by five,
The little one stops to take a dive

The ants go marching six by six,
The little one stops to pick up sticks

The ants go marching seven by seven,
The little one stops to pray to heaven

The ants go marching eight by eight,
The little one stops to roll a skate

The ants go marching nine by nine,
The little one stops to check the time

The ants go marching ten by ten,
The little one stops to say “The End”,
And they all go marching down to the ground
To get out of the rain.

Letter of the Week

A for Ants
“Every letter makes a sound, A says Ah”

Snack of the Week

Ants On A Log

Using celery as the logs (or pretzel sticks) fill with peanut butter

or other nut-less butter (sun butter for example)

And add chocolate chips or raisins for the ants!

Enjoy!

Art Project of the Week

Make an Ant Collage
Using paper and black paint (or purple for the color of the week)
dip your childs finger(s) in paint and make the prints on the paper
You can get creative with what you have the ants do
(maybe they are coming out of an anthill or carrying goodies back!)

Field Trip of the Week

Go on a bug hunt!

There are so many ants outside. You can collect them in a bug jar

or just go on a scavenger hunt and make a list of all the different places

you see ants and other bugs outside!

App of the Week

1, 2, 3 Ants Go Marching App

This week our app focuses on math and counting as well as the various things the ants are getting stuck in on their march.
